The Crown Chakra

Today I’ll be going over the crown chakra, which is located slightly above the top of the head.

It is associated with the colors white (which is the way I’ve always visualized it) or deep purple/violet, and connects us to the universe/divine. Being associated with the universe or divine, this chakra’s energy helps us rise above the ego, understand oneness, and cultivate happiness and peace. This chakra helps us to start to grasp how interconnected we all are, and when we truly understand the interconnectedness of everything, we can tap into more gratitude, becoming more able to shed living from a place of fear and/or anxiety. Working with the energy of this chakra helps us to remain grounded while both receiving and operating from our higher selves, to be connected to the calm, loving energy of the divine. The crown chakra is so powerful! It’s extremely freeing when we work with this energy consciously, as it enables us to be guided by something higher than ourselves.

A few crystals which are excellent for working with this chakra are clear quartz, amethyst, herkimer diamond, and lepidolite. The crown chakra is associated with the planet Saturn and the moon. It can be viewed as our spirituality center, helping us to tap into the universe/divine, gratitude, happiness, peace, and higher states of love and connection. I recommend picking up at least one of the crystals mentioned above this week, to help get this chakra balanced before we get to the exercise I’ll be sharing at the end of this series. Below are some of the key points of the physical and spiritual/emotional functions of the crown chakra.

Physical:

Pineal gland.

Spiritual/Emotional:

Consciousness.

Happiness.

Presence.

Ego separation.

Higher intelligence.

The crown chakra is primarily associated with feminine qualities. When it is balanced it can help us feel more connected to our higher selves and the universe, peace, gratitude, being present, and less connected to fear and ego. This is the chakra of seeing the big picture. As the seat of our spirituality, it is important to note that a blocked crown chakra can be soothed through meditation, practicing trust and gratitude, connecting with nature, learning surrender, and spending some time under the moon if possible (if not find beautiful images of it). Finding ways to reduce or handle stress is something which deserves a separate mention, as it is perhaps the biggest barrier to working with this chakra, because too much focus on things outside our control can lead to buildups of anxiety and fear, which blocks this chakra’s amazing energy.

While covering each chakra, this paragraph will (usually) remain unchanged, with the exception of the color visualization. Please spend time this week visualizing this chakra as a still, vibrant, white or violet wheel in the location described at the beginning of the post, as this will make the exercise at the end of this series a bit easier. If you’ve picked up one or more of the crystals listed above (which I hope you will), holding this crystal while visualizing the chakra will start to do some healing on it before we even get to the final exercise. For all of the individual chakras we will cover in this series, please go gently and get to know them without trying to get them moving until we get to the final exercise. It is always important when working with your energy to go into it slowly and learn a bit before diving in head first.

Please remember to practice the mini exercise as often as possible. I’ve updated the mini exercise post to include links to all posts in the series for review if you wish.

Feel free to ask questions you may have about this chakra, or any other topics which you may like to see covered here at a later date.

As always, I’m sending lots of love and light your way.
